- Memphis was born on July 24, 2007 after an uneventful pregnancy and birth. Around 1 month of age we noticed his head was not rounding out and asked his Dr about it. That led us to see a cranio-facial Dr at Children's Hospital of MI who diagnosed Memphis with plagiocephaly (not round head) and torticollis (wry neck). And so it began. Since then we added a cardioloigist (which we no longer have to see), a neurologist, an ENT, and GI, a opthamologist, a geneticist, physical medicine and rehab and a couple of therapists. Memphis was progressing normally in development until about 4-5 months. He has all the normal insticts babies have but lacks the ability to make purposeful movements without having to really work at it. His neuro Dr diagnosed him with cerebral palsy because you need a diagnosis before you can get services or help. He has since been diagnosed with a genetic deletion in Chormosome 11 & 14 (FOXG1B) which only one other child has been noted in the literature to have. It is a new test to find the FOXG1B so there may be more kids that have not been found yet. But as of right now Memphis is one of two know cases.
